What is Badal Umrah?
Badal Umrah (proxy Umrah) is the performance of Umrah on behalf of someone who is unable to perform it themselves — whether they have passed away, are elderly, chronically ill, or physically incapable. A certified Islamic scholar performs the full rites of Umrah in Makkah, making the intention (Niyyah) with the name of the person on whose behalf the Umrah is being performed. This is a well-established practice in Islamic jurisprudence, supported by authentic Hadith.
Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Badal Umrah and Badal Hajj permissible in Islam?
Yes. Proxy Umrah and Hajj are permitted according to the majority of Islamic scholars across all four madhabs. They are supported by authentic Hadith where the Prophet ﷺ permitted companions to perform pilgrimage on behalf of deceased relatives.
Who performs the proxy Umrah or Hajj on my behalf?
All proxy services are performed by certified Islamic scholars who reside in Makkah, hold formal qualifications in Islamic jurisprudence and have already completed their own Umrah and Hajj obligations.
Who can receive a Badal Umrah or Badal Hajj?
Proxy pilgrimage can be performed on behalf of a deceased Muslim, an elderly person physically unable to travel, someone with a permanent illness or disability, or a person who passed away before completing a pilgrimage they had vowed to perform.
What proof will I receive that the service was completed?
You will receive a high-definition video recording of the full Umrah or Hajj rituals along with a digital certificate of completion showing your loved one’s name and the date performed — delivered within 72 hours.
Can I request a specific date for my Badal Umrah or Hajj?
Yes. During the booking process you can request a preferred date. Our team will confirm availability and schedule the performance accordingly.
How is the intention made on behalf of my loved one?
Before beginning the rituals our scholar makes a clear Niyyah (intention) using the full name of the person on whose behalf the Umrah or Hajj is being performed. Dua is also made with their name at the Kaaba.
What is the difference between Badal Umrah and Badal Hajj?
Badal Umrah is the proxy performance of the lesser pilgrimage which can be performed at any time of year. Badal Hajj is the full proxy pilgrimage performed only during Dhul Hijjah and carries a greater obligation especially if the deceased had the means to perform Hajj themselves.
What is your refund policy for Badal Umrah and Badal Hajj services?
If the service has not yet been performed you are entitled to a full refund. Once the Umrah or Hajj has been completed we provide full video and certificate documentation as proof of fulfilment.
