Badal Hajj — Complete Proxy Hajj by Certified Scholars in Makkah
There are moments in a Muslim’s life that carry weight no words can fully hold. The realisation that a parent passed away before completing Hajj. The grief of a family watching a loved one’s health deteriorate, knowing the journey to Makkah is no longer possible for them. The quiet guilt of a child who kept saying “next year” — until there was no next year left.
Badal Hajj exists for these moments.
It is not a shortcut. It is not a workaround. It is a door that Allah opened — confirmed through authentic Hadith, accepted by all four schools of Islamic law — so that no Muslim’s obligation has to remain unfulfilled. At Badal Umrah, we carry out this sacred duty with the seriousness it deserves: certified scholars in Makkah, complete rituals, verified proof, and genuine sincerity from the first step of Ihram to the final farewell Tawaf.
What Is Badal Hajj?
Badal Hajj — also written as Hajj Badal — is the performance of the complete Hajj pilgrimage by one qualified person on behalf of another. The Arabic word “badal” means substitute or replacement. In Islamic jurisprudence, it refers to a certified scholar completing the full manasik of Hajj while holding the niyyah (intention) entirely for someone else — a deceased parent, a permanently ill family member, or an elderly person whose body can no longer make the journey.
This is not a symbolic gesture. The Hajj performed by the scholar on behalf of your loved one counts as a real, valid Hajj — recorded by Allah, carried in the scales of their deeds, and fulfilling the obligation that remained on their shoulders.
According to the authentic Hadith confirming Badal Hajj (Sahih al-Bukhari 1513), a woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked whether she could perform Hajj on behalf of her elderly father who was too frail to ride. The Prophet ﷺ confirmed she could without hesitation. This is the foundation of Badal Hajj — not an opinion, not a minority view, but a confirmed and transmitted ruling from the Prophet ﷺ himself.
Is Badal Hajj Permissible According to All Four Madhabs?
Yes — and this matters because we serve Muslims from every background.
The Hanafi madhab permits Badal Hajj for the deceased and for those permanently unable to perform it themselves. The Maliki, Shafi’i, and Hanbali madhabs all agree on its permissibility with similar conditions. For a detailed scholarly breakdown, refer to the ruling on Badal Hajj according to Islamic scholars on IslamQA — one of the most trusted fatwa references worldwide.
The key conditions are: the person performing Badal Hajj must have already completed their own obligatory Hajj first. They must perform the complete Hajj with no shortcuts or omissions. And the intention must be clearly made for the person on whose behalf the Hajj is being done. Every certified scholar in Makkah that we work with satisfies all of these conditions without exception.
Our Two Badal Hajj Packages
We offer two carefully structured Hajj Badal service options. Both fulfil the complete religious obligation.
KSA Registered Badal Hajj — $4,500 Our premium Badal Hajj service, performed by a KSA government-registered certified scholar in Makkah holding an official permit issued by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. In addition to complete Hajj rituals, HD video proof, and a personalised digital certificate, you receive official Saudi government Hajj registration documentation. This is the highest level of Badal Hajj available — fully valid for legal matters, estate settlements, and family records.
Standard Hajj Badal — $1,999 Performed by our qualified scholars and workers who operate permanently within the Kaaba and Makkah precincts. A complete, Shariah-valid proxy Hajj by all scholarly standards — including full HD video proof and a personalised digital certificate — without the Saudi government registration layer. For families seeking to fulfil the religious obligation of performing Hajj on behalf of deceased or elderly loved ones, this is a fully accepted and trusted option.
Who Is This Badal Hajj Service For?
Our Hajj Badal service is designed for four groups:
1. Those performing Hajj on behalf of a deceased loved one If your parent, spouse, or sibling passed away without completing the fifth pillar — and had the means to do so during their lifetime — most scholars consider it an obligation on the family to arrange Badal Hajj on behalf of deceased family members. It is one of the most profound final acts of love a child can perform for a parent. If you have also not yet fulfilled the lesser pilgrimage for a loved one, you can arrange Badal Umrah separately at any time of year.
2. Those caring for someone permanently ill A chronic illness, a disability, a condition that will not recover — these are valid Islamic grounds for Hajj Badal to be performed on behalf of a living person. They receive the full reward of Hajj while you fulfil the obligation for them.
3. Elderly individuals who can no longer travel The journey to Makkah and the physical demands of Hajj — the walking, the heat, the crowds, the standing at Arafah — are beyond what many elderly Muslims can endure. Badal Hajj closes this gap with dignity. If your elderly parent is also in need of physical assistance during any future visit, consider also our Wheelchair Donation in Mecca service.
4. Families seeking closure Sometimes there is no strict legal obligation, but a deep personal need to honour a loved one’s unfinished spiritual journey. This proxy Hajj service offers that — not just a transaction, but an act of grief transformed into worship.
What Our Certified Scholars in Makkah Perform — Every Step
We do not offer a partial service. Our certified scholars in Makkah perform every single element of the complete Hajj on behalf of your loved one.
Ihram and Niyyah — The scholar enters the state of Ihram and declares the intention explicitly with your loved one’s full name.
Tawaf al-Qudum — Seven circuits of the Kaaba upon arrival in Makkah, performed in full reverence with continuous supplication for your loved one by name.
Sa’i (Safa to Marwa) — Seven traversals between the hills of Safa and Marwa, retracing the blessed steps of Hajar (peace be upon her). A wajib element of Hajj that must not be omitted.
Wuquf at Arafah — The heart of Hajj. “Hajj is Arafah,” said the Prophet ﷺ. Our scholar stands on the plain of Arafah on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, making extended heartfelt dua for your loved one by name.
Muzdalifah — The scholar spends the night at Muzdalifah under the open sky as prescribed, collecting pebbles for the stoning, fulfilling this obligatory stop.
Mina and the Jamarat — Three days of Tashreeq, the stoning of the three Jamarat, the symbolic rejection of Shaitan. The sacrifice (Hady) is arranged. The hair is shaved. The Ihram is released.
Tawaf al-Ifadah and Tawaf al-Wada — The obligatory Tawaf of Hajj itself, followed by the farewell Tawaf before departing Makkah. Every Fard, every Wajib, every Sunnah act — completed in full, on behalf of your loved one. You can view our verified Badal Umrah work proof to understand the standard of documentation and sincerity we bring to every act of proxy worship we perform.
Proof You Will See and Keep
We understand that trust is not given — it is earned. That is why every Badal Hajj service booking includes:
- HD video proof of the complete Hajj performance
- Official digital certificate bearing your loved one’s full name and date of performance
- Saudi government registration documentation (KSA Registered package only)
- All documentation delivered within 72 hours of Hajj completion
Many of our clients keep this certificate framed. Some read it at the grave of their loved one. Some simply hold it and cry, because it means the obligation is finally done.
Why the Scholar Matters More Than the Price
There are services online that offer proxy Hajj at prices that seem too good to be true. Sometimes they are. The validity of Badal Hajj rests entirely on who performs it — and whether they perform it correctly.
A scholar who has not yet completed their own obligatory Hajj cannot perform Badal Hajj. An agent who does not actually stand at Arafah on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah has not performed Hajj at all — no matter what certificate they issue. If you have any questions about how we verify our scholars or how the process works, visit our Islamic FAQ page for detailed scholarly answers, or review the Hajj and Umrah Calendar 2026 to understand the exact season dates.
Every certified scholar in Makkah we work with is permanently based in Makkah or Madinah, holds formal qualifications in Islamic law from recognised institutions in Saudi Arabia, and has completed their own personal obligatory Hajj. They are not travel agents. They are not hired labourers. They are people of knowledge who take this responsibility as a matter of their own amanah before Allah.
Important — Hajj Happens Only Once a Year
This is not a service you can purchase in December and have fulfilled by January. Hajj occurs once a year, in the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah. The Wuquf at Arafah — the central pillar — happens on a single day. If that day passes, there is no Hajj until the following year.
Slots for our Badal Hajj service are strictly limited. We operate a first-come, first-served system. We strongly advise booking at least six to eight weeks before the Hajj season begins. Check our Hajj and Umrah Calendar 2026 for exact dates so you do not miss the window.

Refund Policy
If you wish to cancel your Badal Hajj booking, a refund request must be submitted within 30 days of the date of booking. Requests made after 30 days from the booking date will not be eligible for a refund under any circumstances. Please review our full Refund Policy before booking.
Once the Hajj pilgrimage has been performed and documentation has been delivered, the service is considered fully fulfilled and no refund is applicable regardless of when the request is made. Given that Hajj Badal slots are allocated to scholars well in advance of the Dhul Hijjah season, we strongly recommend making any cancellation decision as early as possible — and always within the 30-day window from your booking date.
One Last Thing
If your mother or father never made it to Makkah — and you carry that weight — know that this act of arranging Hajj on behalf of deceased parents is itself a sadaqah jariyah. It is love made into action. It is the continuation of a bond that death did not break. If you also wish to send a gift of charity to the pilgrims in their memory, consider our Donate Quran in Mecca or Feed Pilgrims in Mecca services — acts of ongoing sadaqah performed in the holiest place on earth.
Book today. Fulfil the obligation. Let them rest easy.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I perform Hajj on behalf of my deceased parents?
Yes. Performing Hajj on behalf of a deceased parent is one of the most important duties in Islam. If your parent passed away without completing Hajj and had the financial means to do so, most Islamic scholars consider Badal Hajj obligatory. Our scholar performs the complete Hajj with your parent’s full name in the intention and makes personal prayer for them at every major site.
What is Badal Hajj and how does it work?
Badal Hajj — also known as proxy Hajj or Hajj on behalf of someone — is the Islamic practice of having a qualified person perform Hajj in place of someone who is unable to do so themselves. You book the service online, provide your loved one’s name, and our certified scholar in Makkah performs the complete Hajj on their behalf with full video proof.
Is Badal Umrah permissible in Islam?
Yes. Proxy Hajj is explicitly permitted in authentic Hadith. The Prophet ﷺ told a companion to perform Hajj on behalf of his deceased father, confirming it is valid and rewarded. This ruling is accepted by scholars of all four major schools of Islamic law.
Who actually performs the Hajj on my loved one's behalf?
Only certified Islamic scholars who permanently reside in Makkah and have already completed their own personal Hajj obligation. We never use travel agents, tour operators, or unqualified individuals. Every scholar holds formal qualifications in Islamic law.
What is included in the Badal Hajj service?
The service includes the complete Hajj — Tawaf, Sa’i, standing at Arafat, Muzdalifah, and Mina — performed by a certified scholar. You receive a high-definition video of the full pilgrimage and an official digital certificate of completion showing your loved one’s name and the date, delivered within 72 hours.
When can Badal Hajj be performed?
Proxy Hajj can only be performed during the official Hajj season in the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah. Slots are extremely limited each year due to high demand. We strongly recommend booking at least 6 to 8 weeks in advance to secure your place.
Can Badal Hajj be performed for a living person?
Yes, but only if the person has a permanent illness or physical disability that prevents them from ever travelling to Makkah. It is not permitted for someone who is temporarily unable to travel or simply cannot afford it at this time.
What is your refund policy for Badal Hajj?
If the Hajj has not yet been performed, you are entitled to a full refund. Once the pilgrimage is completed, we provide full HD video and a digital certificate as proof of fulfilment. Due to the once-a-year nature of Hajj, cancellations must be made well in advance of the Hajj season.
